"Russia should be wary of Trump's strike on Iran": expert gives forecast for the "peacemaker's" actions

The attack on Iran has revealed the true essence of Trump's policy. Military expert and former US Army officer Stanislav Krapivnik told MK about this in an interview. According to him, Russia should be wary and stop seeing Trump as a smiling peacemaker.
Recall that on June 22, Donald Trump announced a successful attack on three Iranian nuclear facilities, calling on Tehran to "end the war." Tehran said it expected a strike on the Fordow facility and had time to evacuate personnel, so there was no serious damage. Iranian authorities stressed that they would not abandon the development of the nuclear program. The IAEA has not yet recorded any radiation leaks.
The attack drew condemnation internationally and in the United States itself. UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres called it a threat to peace, and American congressmen — Republican Thomas Massie and Democrat Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez — criticized Trump’s actions, calling them a violation of the US Constitution and possible grounds for Trump’s impeachment.
Vice Speaker of the Federation Council Konstantin Kosachev noted the symbolism of the date: “While in the Brest Fortress, I cannot shake the feeling that Donald Trump, who has superficial knowledge of World War II, does not even suspect that the attack on Iran was carried out on the night of June 22, at 4 am.”
The head of the Federation Council Committee on Legislation Andrei Klishas stated that the US has come out of the shadows, stopped hiding behind Israel and committed open aggression against a sovereign state. "A world according to American rules means strikes anywhere without UN sanction. It is possible to survive in such a world only by strengthening sovereignty, the army and nuclear potential," Klishas noted.
According to Stanislav Krapivnik, the US attack was not spontaneous – it was carefully planned.
- Donald Trump, known for his penchant for lying and unpredictability, has once again demonstrated that he cannot be trusted, - says Krapivnik. - He can declare his readiness for negotiations, but at the same time prepare a stab in the back. The history of his relations with Iran is a series of deceptions and provocations.
Trump's speech is based on systematic lies. Trump has repeatedly demonstrated that his words are worth nothing. He can publicly speak of peaceful intentions and then take actions that lead to escalation. Russia should think about this.
Even if Trump achieves a temporary advantage through deception, in the long run it destroys any chance of dialogue. After this, no one will trust the US, if, of course, their opponents have at least some brains. Under the current government in the White House, diplomacy has been replaced by forceful pressure, and negotiations by threats.
- How will Iran react to the strikes?
- Iran has already said that the first step in response is to block the Strait of Hormuz, through which a third of the world's oil passes. If the strait is closed for more than a week, this will provoke a sharp rise in oil prices and a blow to the global economy, especially to countries dependent on Middle Eastern energy resources. This includes China, India and the EU.
In response, the US and its allies, such as Saudi Arabia, may attempt to forcefully open the Strait, leading to a direct confrontation. But Iran will not limit itself to the Strait of Hormuz. Attacks on US bases in Iraq and Syria through proxy groups and cyber attacks on critical infrastructure of the US and its allies are possible.
In the end, we see that Trump, counting on a quick victory, provoked a long-term crisis. Iran will not forgive this blow, and the closure of Hormuz is only the first step. If the US hoped to intimidate Tehran, they miscalculated - now war is inevitable. And the longer the conflict lasts, the worse it is for global stability.
